About Mikeware™
Mikeware™ is a small software company devoted to making better Applications and Games for everyone.
Mikeware™ was created in 1996 by Michael A. Hawker.
Michael A. Hawker was born in Montreal, Quebec Canada. He moved to Pennsylvania at a young age and now resides in Vermont and Montreal. He started using a computer at the age of four and started programming computers in the fourth grade. He currently holds a degree in Computer Science minoring in Philosophy from McGill University, and he is currently pursuing a Masters in Computer Science there as well.
The idea for Mikeware™ came while Michael was talking to some friends over the lunch table. He had been writing games for quite some time and decided he should form a name for his software. After a few minutes of bouncing ideas off his friends, Mikeware™ was born.
In 1998, Michael established Mikeware™'s first logo, which was later revamped to the current logo on 11/02/1999, for the year 2000, during an entrepreneurship class. The Mikeware™ seal (as seen in the upper-left corner) was initially created back in November 2004, and evolved slowly until making its first appearance on our new website.
Mikeware™ was then registered as a trademark with the state of Vermont on 06/22/2000.
The domain Mikeware.com was purchased on 06/30/2002 by Michael A. Hawker.
On 05/27/2003 the Mikeware.com Online Shop opened for business through Cafepress.com.
On 01/22/2005 the Mikeware™ Legacy software section was started. A place to show Mikeware's History.
Starting in January 2006, Michael has been closely involved in furthering the development of McGill's Mammoth Project.
On 05/23/2006 the new Mikeware.com was launched! In addition to a nice visual lift plenty of projects were added to the Legacy Vault.
Michael is a member of the International Game Developers Association as of November 2006.
